Join YWCA Evanston/North Shore and the City of Evanston Mayor's Office on Thursday, April 3, for an inspiring evening with Dr. Jackson Katz—an internationally renowned educator, author, lecturer, and social theorist dedicated to engaging men as allies and leaders in preventing gender-based violence. Presented by YWCA Evanston/North Shore’s Alternatives to Violence Program, this event offers a powerful keynote address that calls our community to action. Dr. Katz will share his pioneering insights on the role of men in creating change and provide practical guidance on how men can take leadership in the movement to end gender-based violence.
Before the keynote presentation, join us for a networking session with light food and drinks, where attendees can connect with community leaders who are committed to addressing gender-based violence. This is an opportunity to engage in meaningful conversations and build relationships with fellow advocates before hearing from Dr. Katz.
Whether you’re new to this conversation or a longtime advocate, this evening will equip and empower you with the tools to take action as an ally and leader. Don’t miss this chance to be part of a movement that is creating safer communities—join us and help turn awareness into action.
This event is free and open to the public. While the content is designed for those who identify as male, all are encouraged to attend, engage in the conversation, and bring these insights back to their circles, networks, and communities to help drive broader change.

About Alternatives to Violence
YWCA Evanston/North Shore’s Alternatives to Violence (ATV) Program supports individuals seeking to stop their use of domestic violence. Through a 26-week program, participants learn skills to change behaviors, beliefs, and attitudes that contribute to violence. ATV holds individuals accountable while promoting safety and justice for victims and children. The program addresses critical topics such as power and control, healthy relationship dynamics, conflict resolution, and breaking the cycle of abuse. ATV accepts both court-mandated and self-referred participants and is part of a coordinated community response to ending domestic violence.
