Savings for Success Program: Virtual General Info Session
Savings for Success is a program of YWCA Evanston/North Shore and the Evanston Community Foundation that provides families with a way to work together to save for their children’s futures. It’s a rewards and savings program designed to make post-high school education more accessible and achievable for all District 65 students – starting in kindergarten, including 1st grade and 6th grade.
By providing upfront funding for every eligible student, tools and information for families to develop their own post high school savings plans, and a way for the entire community to invest in their children, the Savings for Success Program enables all of us to work together to build assets and support expectations of educational and economic success for every child.
Why start saving now?
Job training or college can cost a lot. No matter what your child wants to be when they grow up, you can help them reach their goal…starting now.
Why is YWCA Evanston/North Shore offering this program?
Research shows that investing any amount into a children’s savings account can dramatically increase a child's expectations for education and training after high school because they know that their family and community care about their future.*

1-Hour Virtual Domestic Violence Training for Salon Professionals
Salon professionals are key allies in helping fight the epidemic of domestic abuse in Illinois! In 2017, Illinois passed HB 42464 requiring all salon professionals to receive 1-hour of training on sexual assault and domestic violence. The YWCA is providing training to help support this fight!
In Illinois, 1 in 3 women, 1 in 4 men, and 1 in 2 trans and non-binary folks will experience domestic violence in their lifetimes. Salon professionals are in the unique position to recognize the signs and symptoms of abuse in their clients and co-workers and discretely refer them to supportive services.
Why train with YWCA Evanston/North Shore...?
We have trainers certified by the IDFPR.
We are the largest provider of comprehensive domestic violence services serving north suburban Cook County for over 30 years.
We have trained thousands of professionals on how to recognize the signs of domestic violence and appropriately refer clients for support.
We are local! We know your community because we are your neighbors. We will be here after the initial training to provide ongoing training support or follow-up as needed.
During a training on domestic violence, attendees who have experienced domestic violence can often experience emotional distress. It is important as an employer you have a trained professional on-site who knows how to appropriately respond to your staff. If you know you have survivors of domestic violence on staff, we can also provide an on-site counselor during the training. Fees for this service will be included in your service agreement.
